ICE at Your Door

What to do when ICE agents show up at your home.

DO NOT open the door - this is your first line of defense. Say "Please slide your warrant under the door". Check for a valid judicial warrant. If it is not signed by a judge, ICE cannot enter. DO NOT SIGN anything from immigration officers without a lawyer REMAIN SILENT - it's your right! TAKE NOTES & DOCUMENT everything including officer names, badge numbers, and paperwork. MAKE A PLAN if you or someone you know is detained. STAY CALM

Stopped by ICE

Your rights when detained in public or at work.

DO NOT answer questions about your immigration status or where you were born. Stay calm and ask, "Am I free to leave?" If yes, walk away calmly. If detained, say "I want to remain silent and speak to a lawyer." DO NOT SIGN anything with a lawyer present. DO NOT LIE or show false documents. Write down or ask for your A-number (Alien Registration Number) to help locate your case. MAKE A PLAN ahead of time in case you or someone you know is detained. Call an immigration lawyer for legal support.

Workplace & Raids

How to protect yourself during employer compliance checks.

Stay Calm & Do Not Run - Moving suddenly will arouse suspicion. You are not required to speak - You do not have to answer questions about your immigration status Do not sign anything without a lawyer first. Your employer cannot force you to speak. ICE must have a judicial warrant to enter non-public areas - it will specify which area to search Ask "Am I free to leave?" - if yes, walk away calmly. Take Notes and Document everything including names, badge numbers, and what officers do and say. Check with your employer if your workplace is prepared if ICE arrives. Report the raid to AMAC or other advocacy group to document
